STRAIGHT DROP AWNINGS MELBOURNE
STRAIGHT DROP AWNINGS
WHAT ARE STRAIGHT DROP?
Straight drop awnings are a roller style of awning which travels in a vertical direction straight up and down. These awnings in their simplest version consists of a roller tube, fabric skin, bottom bar and a pair of universal brackets. There are 3 control options to raise and lower this type of awning and they are, spring assisted, crank operated and motorised. Most straight drops awnings need to be anchored down into position to create and maintain tension on the awnings fabric. Clips and belts are used to anchor the awnings into the desired position. Straight drop awnings can also be manufactured with cable guide wire options. All straight drop awnings with the exception of spring operated, are gravity fed. Other forms of straight drop awnings include the very popular zip style awning systems with side tensioning channels, check out our Ziptrak page for more information on this style of awning.

Do the Somfy Zigbee motors have a further range of control then the Somfy RTS Motors?YES & NO. It all depends on how the blinds motors have been set up. Somfy's RTS remote controls have a omni directional range of over 20 metres, this includes thru walls & floors. Zigbee motors have an open field range of only 7mtres. If comparing the two protocols with 2 stand alone blinds the RTS would win. However Zigbees range can be greatly extended beyond that of RTS if you created a network of otherZigbee devices that communicate to each other in a mesh network.
